Writer's picture: Amogh KutumbeAmogh Kutumbe

Friday 13th Sept everyone from the office was happy as it will be a long holiday in Japan.

(16th sept as respect for elderly) so as usual I planned a trip to Enoshima island and

kamakura along with my shared house friends.

Saturday 14th sept morning we all (Pankaj + Vijay) and me were ready to start our wonderful

journey to mentioned places. Took a direct train to Chuo-rinkan (on denentoshi line) and

then transferred to Odakyu - enoshima line. Entire journey took around 1.25 hours and we

reached Katase-enoshima. A very small station but lots of tourists. Outside the station

wonderful beach, clean water and beautiful view. We just went roaming on the beach, took

some snaps (already shared with u) and then started walking towards Enoshima island. This

island is connected to Japan by a bridge. A wonderful green island with different shades of

tree leaves..initially went to a temple and then moved to peaceful garden and observation

tower..the view is so amazing from there..your eyes get a treat.. one side sea...one side

Japan..wow..memorable place..in the garden there was Hawaii festival was also going on so

got a chance to watch that for some time..then we moved to love bell temple.. hell lot of

bells hanged there as “mannat” the story behind that is Dragon we came to destroy this

island fell in love with the princess from Kamakura and hence this concept.. a big bell is also

there..so if you take your lover (koibito) then you wish will be fulfilled.. (don’t try as its just a

myth)..due to recent typhoon some area was closed..we were damn hungry..and here new

thing we saw and I had is octopus cracker (kind of papad here)..and it tastes amazing..then

we were just catched one bus without knowing where its going..luckily a lady from the bus

helped me with entire map and how to go..(again helpfulness experienced).. we finally

reached to Enoshima station..took a train to Hase..this train is train + tram kind..sometimes

on road and sometimes on tracks.. a unique thing and oldest thing in Japan..it was fun riding

that train..around 2 we reached Hase..and quickly moved to Hasedara temple..again a

beautiful wonderful garden and surroundings.. near from this temple is great buddha

statue.. one fo the famous places in Japan to visit..its just amazing to see the statue..such a

big one..well maintained..spent some time there and moved to Kamakura by train..outside

the station there is a big Komachi dori shopping street for souvenirs and sweets and street

food..a very long street indeed..end of the street again a beautiful

temple..hachimangu..there are 8 more temples in kamakura but the famous ones we

covered..moving next to our last destination of trip to bamboo forest..a walk in the patch of

bamboo forest is just mesmerising experience..oh gosh.. too much of walking and

climbing..now its time to return back home..from kamakura we went to mizonokuchi direct

train and feast was waiting there..we went to Shagun Indian restaurant there.. what an

amazing Indian food.. enjoyed every bit of it..the owner is also very nice..one thing I noticed

here in every restaurant is they give warm hand towel to clean your hands before you start

your supper. (exactly similar tradition of Indian of washing hands)..when our stomachs were

full then we took a train for our destination home..after 15 kms of walking finally we

reached home.. a must visiting places we covered..now planning for other day trip
