Kawaguchiko - A must watch place

Kawaguchiko is one of the 5 lakes covering Mt Fuji. This lake is the biggest lake in 5 lakes and hence has certain importance. It is located almost 2 hours away from Tokyo.

This time also we started early and booked 7:30 bus to Kawaguchiko from Shibuya. Bus was full and we planned for the perfect season and day. We took a bus from Mark city mall 5th floor. As per plan we suppose to reach lake by 10 but in between there was an accident due to which our journey delayed by almost 1 hour. Luckily we had some sandwiches as breakfast so spared time to spend there. we reached Kawaguchiko station at around 11:00 and immeditely started searching for the bus pass counter. It is located exactly outside Kawaguchiko station. The pass is valid for 2 days and costs 1500 yen. We immediately started our journey to caves via blue line bus. First we went to Lava cave and then to ice cave which is 10 mins walk from the first cave. Both caves maintains temperature of 0 degree naturally. Lava cave is still used as natural source of refrigeration. You require 10 mins to cover each cave. Both these caves are created due to Mt. Fuji lava earlier times.

In ice cave ice is created naturally and it is available 365 days whatever outside climate be.

After seeing these caves we started our journey towards the main attraction momiji festival (maples leaves festival). there are supposed to be buses from these caves to station but unfortunately none of the buses arrived so we walked some way to another stop and got one bus to Kawaguchiko station. There was lot of crowd going to the festival. There was traffic as well. We took a red line bus going to momiji festival and got down at 15th stop. Festival was happening at 17th stop so we walked a bit till that point. In between we had very nice view of Mt. Fuji. captured some snaps there. The beauty was just mesmerizing. All trees turned their leaves to dark red and it was really scenic to be there. I was fortunate to got a chance to witness the same.

After spending almost 1.5 hours there we started our return journey. Buses were full so after waiting for 30 mins finally we boarded on to bus. The climate was very cold almost 6 degrees. We reached Kawaguchiko station and then without thinking anything just went ahead and took a train to Tokyo. Of course you require one transfer in between but I believe for us it was the fastest way to reach Tokyo. After almost 3 hours journey we finally reached to Shinjuku and further went to our home.

Definitely this experience was one of the memorable experiences of Ja

pan stay.
