I am not that adventurous but when I did parasailing few years ago, i liked it and enjoyed it. After that I decided to do paragliding which is again a unique experience but i guess destiny was not ready to allow me to do paragliding.
We school friends went to vaishnodevi for vacation and there is one beautiful place patnitop which is highest and may be the best place for paragliding in India. We all were so excited that we are going ride in the sky. We went fully prepared but unfortunately on the day of ride, we got to know that instructor's mother passed away. The news was very bad so we couldnt even ask anyone to talk with instructor. So we went to the place just imagined that we were riding in the sky and returned back.
Another incident happened, after few years when again we all close friends went to pune and on the way decided to goto kamshet, one of the paragliding spots near Mumbai. As most or all of you must be aware that paragliding happens from mountain and hence one need to climb the mountain. Usually one need not hike till top but reach by either car/some arrangements done by paragliding schools. In Kamshet they asked us to come by our cars. We did all bookings etc and were super excited. took our cars and just started going towards the paragliding location. the road and curves were very steep and very rough. We were not aware of these things. But still we had that desire so started pushing our dashing cars to top. Midway our cars stuck and we couldnt move ahead. We tried all possible ways to go up but of no use. Finally we got message that due to whether change paragliding for the day is over. And again we took our sad faces to home.
Third time similar incident happened, but this time even before going our paragliding cancelled due to whether conditions.
After coming to Japan, when I got to know that near Mt. Fuji paragliding is available. I was super happy. One time me and my friend tried booking but somehow we didnt get a slot to fly and again yet another time it got cancelled. Still that strong desire to fly was in my mind. Finally a month ago, after 4 failed attempts, 5th attempt was THE ONE and that too at amazing location, in front of Fuji-san...just wowww feeling I had..
This time we did all necessary bookings and went to the location. Here paragliding school made an arrangement to take candidates up to the mountain. The ride from bottom of mountain till top was so thrilling and exciting, so I got feeling how actual paragliding would be.. While going up the so called train..dont know what was that..very local kind..but inclining to around 60 degrees without support. wow.. cant imagine such upward travel..but still it was fun.. After reaching on top, had nice view of fuji-san along with other mountains. Our instructors took us to the area from where we were going to fly. The mountain was around 1000 m high. Instructors gave all instructions to us (mind you.. all in japanese) and tied all necessary ropes to my body. Now I was fully prepared to take off.. 3....2...1....GO....and I started running on the slope....AND..... :(
the school person came in front of me and hold me. Asked to to wait because due to wind direction change my parachute got damaged. I was like...(NO i wanna fly.. i dont want to cancel and go down by walking... ) all this I was saying in my mind..and then he came to me and said get ready...and again my excitement reached to top..again 3....2....1... GOOOOO
and this time I actually took off..and I was in the sky.. top of the world...initial 30 secs I felt little scary as nothing below me.. but then no bad thoughts.. only enjoyment.. thorough enjoyment..While flying I was talking to the instructor as well.. and we were roaming like a bird..up ...down.. fast.. slow... just amazing feeling.. In words I really cant explain...After around 5-7 mins.. he did 3 swirls in air.... and that moment was like.. OMG.... how can these things be so classic...behind fuji-san covered with snow..other side green mountains...down green farm fields...such a beautiful views...after almost 15-20 mins of thrill and enjoyment...we started our journey downwards towards land... these 15-20 mins were kind of best time of my life..while landing as well he gave me few instructions and within few mins we landed smoothly on the ground..after landing also I felt like I was flying only...but reality was different..I still can remember those moments...while flying I had a chance to take entire shoot from take off till landing...this will remain in my memory forever.
